In his new post, Murtagh will oversee the financial and administrative aspects of CNNfn and CNN’s New York bureau including business proposals, strategic planning and supporting the senior management team.
Formerly the director of strategic sourcing for TBS, Murtagh joined Turner in 1992 as a senior accountant. Before that, Murtagh worked as a senior accountant with Goldstein Golub Kessler & Company in New York.
Richie Jackson has been tapped head of Innovative Artists’ New York office, whose current client list includes Edie Falco, Frank Langella, Kate Nelligan and Patti LuPone. Jackson joined the agency as an assistant when the Gotham office only employed one agent.
Warner Music International has tapped Dennis Ploug as VP of Warner Music Media. Ploug joins WMI from Universal Music, where he held the post of VP international marketing for Interscope/Geffen/ A&M. Ploug will be responsible for establishing the WMM division, which will focus on catalog exploitation, TV compilations and ancillary marketing opportunities for WMI outside the USA, while also being involved in the company’s overall worldwide marketing initiatives.
Paul Jennings has been upped to senior VP, finance at Lifetime Entertainment Services.
Jennings will be responsible for accounting operations, finance, treasury and strategic planning.
Prior to his new post, Jennings was VP, strategic planning at Lifetime. He joined Lifetime in 1990 as director, financial reporting and budgeting.
A&E Television Networks has upped Maggie Reilly-Brooks to VP and deputy general counsel and Stephen Stander to VP of legal and business affairs, international and business development.
As VP and deputy general counsel, Reilly-Brooks will supervise all documentary programming and affiliate transactions. She was previously assistant general counsel at A&E.
In his new post, Stander will be in charge of strategic planning, business development and supervision of AETN International’s legal matters. Stander will also oversee the legal affairs for the business development group. Prior to joining A&E Television Networks in 1998, Stander worked at NBC as senior VP of law.
The Box Music Network has announced two additions and two promotions: Amy Brown joined as director of broadcast operations. Brown’s duties will be negotiating contracts and acting as a liaison for broadcast affiliates out of the Miami Beach headquarters. She was formerly program manager for America One Television.
Stephany Buchicchio was named assistant music director. Previously she spent three years as a music director and on-air personality for Clear Channel’s Albuquerque, N.M. station, KPEK.
The Box has also upped Jeff Elgart to senior veep, network and online advertising.
In addition to his regular responsibilities, Elgart will focus on all advertising sales for music, national and direct response for the recently launched online element of the net, Box Fusion.
He was formerly VP, network advertising.
Joel Genove was also upped to director of field marketing. His responsibilities will now include marketing objectives, local advertising sales objectives and retention activities for affiliates in the eastern and central regions.
Genove served two previous positions at the net, including senior manager and project manager. His duties included the conversion of the company’s broadcasting infrastructure.
