Taylor to top CBC's board

Exec most recently chaired Vancouver trade board

TORONTO -- Former journalist and politician Carole Taylor was tapped on Monday as the Canadian Broadcasting Corp.'s new chairperson of the board, as predicted (Daily Variety, July 15).

Taylor has 20 years' journalism experience with the CBC and private web CTV. Most recently, she was the chair of the Vancouver Board of Trade.

"As we continue to strengthen Canada's national public broadcaster, I believe that Ms. Taylor's appointment will go a long way toward ensuring that the corporation continues to meet both the needs and expectations of Canadians," CBC prexy and CEO Robert Rabinovitch said.

Neither of the toppers is French speaking, breaking a CBC tradition.
