Exec finds new orbit

Damon, Affleck's LivePlanet taps Haddad prexy

HOLLYWOOD -- Matt Damon and Ben Affleck's multimedia entertainment company LivePlanet has tapped David Haddad prexy and chief operating officer.

Haddad will oversee the company's day-to-day internal operations, working directly with CEO Chris Moore and chief creative officer Sean Bailey, who founded the company last year with Affleck and Damon.

"We are very excited to have David join LivePlanet," Moore said. "David is a straight shooter who comes with a solid background in business and understands how to build world-class companies with strong profitability."

Before coming to LivePlanet, Haddad was the founder and CEO of online party-planning portal eParties, which he sold to eToys in June 2000. A former prexy of Mattel Media, Haddad also spent six years in the publishing business unit at the Walt Disney Co.

Creating programming for several media platforms, LivePlanet is ramping up to produce "The Runner," a reality-based TV show with an Internet component skedded to bow on ABC in January.

Company's second installment of its online screenwriting contest Project Greenlight, in which the winner receives a production deal with Miramax to make a feature film, is expected this fall. Miramax Television also documents the making of the movie for a 13-episode series for HBO.

The behind-the-scenes look at the contest's first winner, Pete Jones, will air late this year. Currently in post-production, his directorial debut "Stolen Summer" hits theaters next spring.
