Thesps warm 'Food'

Stevenson, Bishop put Pons pic on their plates

MADRID -- Juliet Stevenson and Kevin Bishop have joined the cast of "Food of Love," the English-lingo debut of Spanish auteur Ventura Pons ("Beloved/Friend").

Based on David Leavitt's novel "The Page Turner," pic begins shooting July 30 in Barcelona, New York and San Francisco. Story turns on a famous pianist's fascination with a young music student.

The $2.2 million "Food" is produced by Pons' Els Films de la Rambla banner in association with Barcelona-based 42nd Street Prods. and Germany's FFP Media Entertainment

Pons will produce; Thomas Spieker and Michael Smeaton take exec producer credits. Pic also toplines Paul Rhys and Allan Corduner.

Cast announcement comes as 42nd Street Prods., which launched in February, has completed its management team, appointing helmer Daniel Fibla Amselem as senior VP of productions and Monika Ganzenmuller, former coordinator of promotion board Catalan Films, as senior VP for international and marketing.
