Kodak vet Agin retiring
Division COO Rodli to become Imaging unit prexy
Agin will be replaced by Eric Rodli, the division's chief operating officer. Rodli joined the Kodak unit in January 2000 after an exec stint at ridefilm exhib Iwerks Entertainment. He previously worked at PriceWaterhouse Coopers.
Agin, who is also senior vice president of the Rochester, N.Y.-based parent company, joined Kodak-Hollywood in 1967, later moving onto Kodak management posts in the Bay Area and elsewhere before being appointed general manager of the Kodak motion picture division in 1988. He left the company to take a post as senior veep of new technology at MCA/Universal from 1992-1995.
Returning to Kodak, Agin helped the company rebrand and extend Hollywood-based operations in the Entertainment Imaging division.
Entertainment Imaging has consisted of an assortment of digital businesses in addition to core film operations, though some have been reassigned to other Kodak divisions or sold off in the past few years.
Currently, the division's non-film sales operations include the Cinesite post-production and f/x unit and the FBC film recycling business.
"(Agin) was among the first to recognize the need for a convergence of film, digital and hybrid motion-imaging technologies in the entertainment industries," Kodak commercial group prexy Marty Coyne said.
"I've been blessed to work for the world's leading imaging technology company in this great industry, where so many customers are talented filmmakers whom I respect and admire," Agin said.
