Under the terms of the deal, van Diem will write and direct one unspecified project for the company.
Director was at one time attached to direct the Robert Redford/Brad Pitt starrer "Spy Game" for Beacon, but Tony Scott took over the helm of that project.
Van Diem is currently developing "Eliza Graves" with Icon Entertainment.
The Dutch helmer, who has won international acclaim for his ground-breaking commercials, won a foreign-language film Oscar in 1997 for his feature "Karakter" ("Character"), which he co-adapted and directed. His graduate film, "Alaska," won an honorary Student Academy Award in 1990.
Van Diem is repped by the Sanford-Gross Agency.
"I think Mike Van Diem is an amazing talent," said Beacon Communications president Marc Abraham.
"Of the two films of Mike van Diem's I have seen, both have won Academy Awards, and I was tired of living in fear of not coming up with the perfect script to lure him. So to eliminate my own anxiety, I made him an offer to do a project together that he would write and direct, and now I can sleep at night!"
