Four score casting
Thesp quartet up to bat for Louis-Dreyfus laffer
Steve Carell of Comedy Central's "The Daily Show" and feature thesp Peter Stormare ("Chocolat") are among the members of the ensemble cast for NBC's untitled Louis-Dreyfus laffer. Don Lake ("Waiting for Guffman") and Brit thesp Darren Boyd will also be regulars.
In addition, Louis-Dreyfus' sister, Susan Bowles, may have a recurring role in the Carsey-Werner-Mandabach project, should it be picked up as a series. Skein is thus turning more into a family affair: Brad Hall ("The Single Guy"), Louis-Dreyfus' husband, is the creator/exec producer of the pilot.
Production on the pilot, which will unfold in real time, is set to begin in mid-July.
Louis-Dreyfus plays a nightclub singer/voiceover artist residing in Los Angeles.
Carell, who is repped by the William Morris Agency, is set to play Louis-Dreyfus' ex-boyfriend, Edgar. In addition to his correspondent gig on "The Daily Show," Carell starred in the unsold comedy pilot "HUD" last season.
The Paradigm-repped Stormare will play a jack-of-all-trades who lives in Louis-Dreyfus' apartment. Gig reps a reunion of sorts for Louis-Dreyfus and Stormare: Latter played Slippery Pete in the semi-legendary "Frogger" episode of "Seinfeld."
Boyd will make his American series debut as Graham, a musician who plays in Louis-Dreyfus' band. Thesp appeared in the Brit hit skein "Smack the Pony."
Scribe/thesp Lake is set to portray a character C-W-M calls "a medical professional friend of Julia's." His long list of film and TV credits include "Waiting for Guffman" and Bonnie Hunt's two short-lived laffers for CBS.
