Disney's Neumann goes to ABC
Mouse House online CFO to become exec VP of TV Network
In his new post, Neumann will work closely with ABC Television Network prexy Alex Wallau on a broad range of policy, programming, administrative and operational issues. He'll report to Wallau and will continue to be based in Los Angeles.
As chief financial officer for the Walt Disney Internet Group, a post he assumed in June 1999, Neumann was responsible for all business planning, finance, accounting and administrative activities. He also was involved in the Internet Group's business development initiatives, including acquisitions and alliances with strategic business partners.
There are no plans yet to replace Neumann as WDIG continues to undergo a transformation now that portal Go.com has been shuttered and control of its Web sites, including ABC.com and ESPN.com, are returning to the television networks.
Other high-level departures are expected from WDIG in the coming months. Bornstein left WDIG in April. Disney's decision to cut 4,000 jobs overall was said to have hit the company's online divisions especially hard.
Before joining WDIG, Neumann was chief operating officer for Disney's Anaheim Sports, where he was responsible for business operations, strategic planning, advertising sales, broadcasting, marketing, communications and community relations.
Neumann joined Disney in 1992 as a senior analyst for corporate development and acquisitions for the company's strategic planning department.
