Arista taps Raphael

Sr. VP to head special markets post

Arista Records has tapped Faithe Raphael senior vice president of the BMG Entertainment imprint's newly formed special markets division.

Based in Beverly Hills, Raphael will seek out new markets, such as advertising and new media, in which to license Arista's music catalog. Exec also will oversee licensing for television and film soundtracks. She will report to exec VP and general manager Larry Mestel for film and TV, and to senior VP Steve Bartels for other projects.

Arista's stable of artists includes Santana, R&B heartthrob Usher, rap duo Outkast and divas Whitney Houston, Toni Braxton and Dido.

Raphael moves to Arista after four years at the BMG-owned label the Windham Hill Group, where she was VP of strategic marketing. During her tenure at Windham Hill, she was the exec producer of A&E Television's "Winter Solstice on Ice."

Before joining BMG, exec spent seven years as VP of product management and direct response marketing at Rhino Entertainment, the back-catalog label now owned by AOL Time Warner.
