Lewis new prod'n exec as shingle ramps up

Marjorie Lewis has joined Dee Gee Entertainment as VP of production as the shingle preps the George Hickenlooper-helmed thriller "Vultures" and the comedy "Lorraine Loses It." Both will be co-produced and financed by Andrew Pfeffer's Pfilmco and Donald Zuckerman's Zuckerman Entertainment.

Penned by Kimberlee Reed, "Vultures" is the story of a photojournalist who thinks he's taken a photo that proves a crime but turns out to be even more newsworthy than he believed.

"Lorraine," written and to be directed by Laurie Hutzler, is a comedy about a woman who sees the Virgin Mary in the light coming from her refrigerator.

Pfilmco and Zuckerman previously teamed on "Beat," while Pfeffer is a producer on Hickenlooper's upcoming "The Man From Elysian Fields."

'Straight' on slate

On the development slate is Greg Ostrin's "Playing It Straight," a gender-bending comedy that will be co-produced by Kate Hudson's Cosmic Entertainment.

Dee Gee also has a number of theater productions in the pipeline, including "Letters From 'Nam," "Dennis the Menace," "Broadway Jukebox" and "The Kiss at City Hall."

Formerly exec VP of Frank Mancuso Jr.'s production company, FGM Entertainment, Lewis also has been VP of production and development for Geffen, HBO and New Line Cinema.

Dee Gee was established in 1986 by Deborah Del Prete and Gigi Pritzker. Company's most recent production was "The Wedding Planner" for Columbia Pictures.
