Ireland helms 'Passionado'
Romantic comedy penned by brother team Jim and Steve Jermanok
Brother duo Jim and Steve Jermanok penned the screenplay, a romantic comedy about a Portuguese widow whose teenage daughter convinces her to date a new Brit in town. The widow falls for the newcomer, who pretends to be in the fishing business but is actually a professional gambler.
Pic, which begins lensing this week, stars David O'Hara ("Braveheart"), Sofia Milos ("The Ladies Man") and Emmy Rossum ("Songcatcher"). Co-stars are Theresa Russell ("Black Widow") and Lupe Ontiveros ("Chuck and Buck").
David Bakalar will produce and Jim Jermanok will exec produce, while Paul Bernard ("High Times Magazine's Pot Luck") and James Scura will serve as co-exec producers.
Ireland, repped by Gersh, was exec producer of John Huston's "The Dead." He co-founded the Seattle Film Festival.
