Touring trophies for 'Ragtime,' 'Edna'

"Ragtime" was named best musical and "Dame Edna: The Royal Tour" best play as the League of American Theatres & Producers announced the winners of the inaugural National Broadway Theater Awards, to be presented Monday at the Supper Club in New York City.

The awards, honoring performers and creative talent involved with touring Broadway shows, are the first national theater kudos with voting conducted via the Internet. Nearly 15,000 theatergoers registered to vote.

Thirty Broadway shows touring during the 2000-01 season were eligible to participate.
