Crown Castle inks for Italo RaiWay

U.S.-owned Crown Castle Intl. has inked a deal with pubcaster RAI to take a 49% stake in RaiWay, the unit that controls RAI's transmission network. The stake is worth $350 million.

Newly appointed RAI director general Claudio Cappon said the revenues from the Crown Castle deal will be used to develop digital broadcasting, increase production and launch multimedia services.
