ISRAEL -- News 24 has won a government tender for a new 24-hour TV news channel in Israel.

News 24, owned by Israeli exhib I.T. International Theatres, high-tech firm Comverse Technologies, investment outfit Ofer Brothers and a group of TV talent, will have a 10-year licence.

It is expected to start broadcasting by the end of the year.

Mooky Greidinger, CEO of I.T. International Theatres, said: "We are very proud that News 24 has been selected in the tender, and we hope that it will contribute to our future, both in earnings and on the strategic front."
