U.K. under Regency

Video Networks adds pics to VOD service

U.K.-based video-on-demand service Video Networks has inked a three-year deal with Regency Enterprises, adding pics "Fight Club," "Pushing Tin" and "Entrapment," among others, to its catalog.

Video Networks has already inked deals with Sony, Disney, Warner Bros., MGM and Universal, as well as several other independent distributors, and offers 1,000 films in its HomeChoice service, which has 11,000 subscribers.

"New Regency has an enviable catalog and some of the best current features available," said Hugh Williams, Video Networks' director of programming and customer products. "We are confident its titles will perform well in our growing market, opening the doors for other independents to follow."

Int'l expertise

Deal was finalized by Williams, as well as Video Network's Donna Brett and Larry Hess. Brett, U.K. head of acquisitions, joined the company from Warner Bros. Intl. Heading acquisitions in the U.S., Hess came from Columbia TriStar Intl. TV.

Separately, the company has inked a deal with Canadian-based Salter Street Films, adding several of its TV shows to its on-demand offerings.

Shows include sci-fi series "Lexx," drama skein "Emily of the New Moon" and lifestyle show "Foodessence."
