Lewis Allen

Lewis Allen, who directed the ghost story classic "The Uninvited," starring Ray Milland and the presidential assassin movie "Suddenly" with Frank Sinatra, died May 3 in a Santa Monica nursing home. He was 94.

Allen also directed "Our Hearts Were Young and Gay," "The Perfect Marriage," with David Niven and Loretta Young, "Another Time, Another Place," with Lana Turner and Sean Connery, "Desert Fury," with Burt Lancaster, and the Alan Ladd pictures "Appointment with Danger" and "Chicago Deadline."

Allen directed many TV series beginning in the 1950s with "Four Star Playhouse" and into the 1970s. Shows included "Bonanza," "Little House on the Prairie," "Mission: Impossible," "The Fugitive," "The Rifleman," "Perry Mason," "Route 66," "To Catch a Thief," "I Dream of Jeannie" and "Cannon."

Allen is survived by is wife, Trudy Colmar Allen, a son and three brothers.
