Seri wins suit over 'Yamakasi'
French labor court rules in favor of writer-director for unfair dismissal
Seri brought a suit against Besson's production company LeeLoo charging unfair dismissal charge.
The court ruled that Seri had not asked to resign, as LeeLoo had suggested.
The decision comes despite Besson's recent victory in another lawsuit brought against him by co-writers Seri and Philippe Lyon, who wanted to halt the release of "Yamakasi." They had argued that their script was not followed and their rights as authors not respected.
Seri's lawyer told Daily Variety on Friday that he will appeal the first court decision in an attempt to prevent the broadcasting of "Yamakasi" on private web TF1 and pay TV channel Canal Plus.
"Yamakasi" opened here Wednesday in 37 theaters, making $151,596 on its first day.
