Celebration with a little night music
Legendary Eggerth given standing O at bicentennial party
Tears came from legendary operetta star Marta Eggerth, who was welcomed with a standing ovation. Cheers came for the theater whose reputation is forever linked with Mozart's "The Magic Flute."
Wolfgang Amadeus showed up, too, in the person of Yngve Gasoy-Ramdal, who plays a contemporary interpretation of the composer in the musical "Mozart," now in its second SRO season at the theater.
Managing director Rudi Klausnityer oozed Viennese charm as he introduced the evening program.
The celebration spilled out into the street, with a week-end traffic-stopping street party.
