BMG tunes in Rubin as marketing exec
VP replaces Wilson, will o'see worldwide operations
Appointment comes in the final stages of a boardroom reshuffle at BMG, as execs loyal to ex-chairman Michael Dornemann and former CEO Strauss Zelnick make way for a new regime under current chief exec Rolf Schmidt-Holz.
Rubin, who will report to BMG exec VP for marketing and A&R Thomas Stein, will oversee all the major label group's artist marketing efforts internationally, including joint partnerships and online initiatives.
Exec has been with BMG for 14 years, working in various marketing capacities worldwide. Most recently, managing director of BMG New Zealand, Rubin also served as VP of A&R and marketing for the Asia-Pacific region (based in Hong Kong) and as managing director of BMG Australia.
Rubin also has held executive posts at Polygram (now Universal Music Group), Dutch consumer-goods maker Unilever and Australian homevid concern Publishing & Broadcasting Video.
Meanwhile in what sources close to the situation described as an amicable parting, Wilson will move on to pursue unspecified "outside opportunities."
It was not clear whether those opportunities could include rejoining his old boss, who was recently tapped to head up America Online's nascent music division. Conroy was not available for comment.
