India nixes nudity at French channel

World Brief

NEW DELHI -- The Indian government has asked French web FTV to water down its "objectionable" shows.

The committee set up by the government to monitor FTV decided not to ban the channel in India.

The fashion web had run into trouble with the authorities for showing certain programs featuring partial nudity, which was felt to offend Indian sensibilities.

The channel will also undertake to promote Indian fashions and designers.
