A native of Brooklyn, Lomita started out in sales and administration in the international division of United Artists and became international print manager in 1965 and director of film services eight years later.
He moved to HBO Pictures after UA became part of MGM, but in 1985 Lomita joined the old UA management at Orion Pictures as exec VP of post-production and worked there until its bankruptcy.
At UA and Orion, Lomita collaborated on the post-production of numerous Woody Allen films, which led to onscreen appearances in Allen's movies "Stardust Memories" and "Zelig."
Lomita became senior VP of creative post-production at TriStar Pictures in 1992 and stayed there until his retirement.
