NEW YORK -- Warner Music Group has brought AOL Time Warner number-cruncher Jay Levine into the musical fold as veep and deputy controller.
Levine, who reports to Warner's senior VP-controller Raymond Nowak, will handle the music company's budgeting and financial reporting and advise on all things accounting-related.
Exec most recently served as AOL Time Warner's executive director of financial reporting. Levine, who came into the Time Warner fold in 1993, had a hand in financial details of the company's mega-merger with America Online.
Exec's move comes amid big organizational changes in the Warner family, as the parent moves to reorganize its post-merger staff. Warner Music topper Roger Ames hired his former Polygram colleague Helen Murphy to replace outgoing chief financial officer Jerome Gold, and Warner Bros. Records chairman Russ Thyret recently ankled his position after 30 years at the label.
The music company also is reportedly gearing up to trim as many as 600 jobs on strict restructuring orders from its corporate parent.
Before joining Time Warner, Levine worked in the audit department at accounting firm Ernst & Young for eight years.
