Guy della Cioppa, a longtime CBS radio and television executive who later turned to independent producing, died Jan. 17 at his home in Studio City following a lengthy illness. He was 87.
Among the shows with which he was associated were "The Red Skelton Show," "Lost in Space" and "Ironside."
Della Cioppa joined CBS following graduation from the U. of Pennsylvania, and became a radio writer/director.
During World War II, he served in the OWI and the OSS (the precursor to the CIA) in Europe and received the Bronze Star as well as the Cross of Lorraine, for setting up the first radio station on liberated French soil.
Following the war, della Cioppa returned to CBS, where he made his way up the ladder to director of network programs.
He later formed a production company with comedian Red Skelton to produce Skelton's weekly TV show and the series "Lost in Space." He also worked with actor Raymond Burr and served as executive producer of the "Ironside" series starring Burr.
He is survived by his daughter and second wife.
