Col adds Flower power
'Angels' effort sways prod'n co.

Barrymore most recently starred in and co-produced "Charlie's Angels" for Col and next appears in the Penny Marshall-helmed drama "Riding in Cars With Boys," also for Col.
The duo had been at Fox since late 1997.
"We had a tremendous collaborative experience working with Sony on 'Charlie's Angels,' " said Juvonen, "and their support was invaluable in helping make the picture a success."
Barrymore added: "They like the kinds of movies we like, which is to say movies that are entertaining and that appeal to a broad audience. We like to take chances and have fun, and so do they."
Flower Films most recently produced the Jena Malone and Jake Gyllenhaal dramatic fantasy-thriller "Donnie Darko," along with financier Pandora and Adam Fields Prods., with the pic unspooling at Sundance.
Moving into "Duplex"
Barrymore and Juvonen are also developing the laffer "Duplex." Set up at Miramax Films, pic's a starring vehicle for Barrymore and Ben Stiller that Stiller and his partner, Stuart Cornfeld, will produce with Flower.
It's not the first Columbia production deal to sprout from the success of "Charlie's Angels," either: Col's chairman Amy Pascal inked a two-year, first-look deal with "Angels" helmer McG (nee Joseph McGinty Nichol) late last year (Daily Variety, Nov. 3), with the tyro feature helmer hiring Stephanie Savage as his producing partner.
Barrymore's newest deal was brokered by Endeavor transplant and partner Patrick Whitesell, who ankled Creative Artists Agency in February (Daily Variety, Feb. 26), and by attorney Steve Warn.
