Post-production house GTN has acquired f/x shop Travelling Pictures Animation, the Farmington, Mich.-based company that most recently created the digital whale in "Cast Away." Company creates f/x for feature films and television commercials. It also recently worked on shots for Sony's "What Lies Beneath." F/x for both "Cast Away" and "Beneath" were handled by Sony Pictures Imageworks. Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. GTN, also based in Michigan, plans to introduce Travelling Pictures to the clientele of its Detroit-based advertising agency.
