United Artists will release the Atlantic Streamline comedy "Igby Goes Down" in North America. Now in production, pic is financed by Atlantic Streamline and Helkon Intl. Pictures, which handles international distribution.
Written and directed by Burr Steers, pic concerns a smart, sarcastic teen (Kieran Culkin) coping with a pill-popping mom (Susan Sarandon) and an emotionally detached but favored older brother (Ryan Phillippe) until he meets a quirky dropout (Claire Danes) who helps him make sense of it all.
The ensemble cast also includes Amanda Peet, Jeff Goldblum, Bill Pullman and Jared Harris. Pic began shooting Jan. 28 in New York.
The project was brought to HIP by Helen Beadleston, VP of acquisitions and co-productions.
Atlantic Streamline is in post on "All the Queen's Men," starring Matt LeBlanc and Eddie Izzard.
