WEA absorbs London ops
Managing director Reid to oversee labels
The labels, which will continue to operate as separate brands, will be overseen by WEA managing director John Reid and based in London Records' West London offices.
London Records chairman Tracy Bennett expressed his approval of the deal in a release, but it was unclear whether he would stay on to run the label as part of WEA.
London, acquired by WMG a year ago, will merge its marketing, press, promotion, creative and production departments with those of WEA. The two labels will maintain separate A&R departments.
"The combined operations of both companies will create a powerhouse for breaking new acts and, by maintaining separate A&R operations ... will further enhance our commitment to the all-important business of signing and developing new U.K. talent," said Warner Music U.K. chairman Nick Phillips.
