MIAMI -- Latino sports net Pan-american Sports Network is sponsoring a team of NBA minor-league players so they can compete in the sixth annual South American League Basketball Championship.
The team, named the Ambassadors, reps the new National Basketball Development League, and its inclusion in the tourney is the result of an alliance among the NBA, PSN and the South American Basketball Federation.
"Working with PSN enables the NBA to further develop the sport of basketball across South America," said NBA Intl. senior VP Andrew Messick. "The agreement not only brings the Ambassadors to South America, but also allows South American teams to have selected players participate on a developmental basis in the (minor league)."
The team will also play in several exhibition games.
