The 55th Tony Awards ceremony will take place on June 3.
Eligibility deadline for the 2000-01 season is May 2. Nominees for all awards will be announced May 7. Managing producer of the Tony Awards is Elizabeth I. McCann, who replaces Edgar Dobie. Venue and hosts for the Tony Awards are to be announced.
Several shows are skedded to open on Broadway just in time to qualify for the awards. They include "Stones in His Pockets" (April 1), "Follies" (April 5), "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" (April 8), "Blast!" (April 17), "The Producers" (April 19), "Bells Are Ringing" (April 22), "The Gathering" (April 24), "The Adventures of Tom Sawyer" (April 26), "King Hedley II" (April 29) and "42nd Street" (May 2).
Producer Jon Wilner recently secured the date of April 23 to open his revival of "Mack & Mabel"; no theater has been confirmed.
