Producer Mondo mines coin in 3rd round

Cyberbiz Brief

Internet production house Mondo Media has secured over $17 million in a third round of financing. SBVC, formerly Softbank Venture Capital, and Venturepark lead the round, which also included returning investors Foundation Capital, Sofinnova Ventures and Red Rock Ventures.

As part of the investment, SBVC's principal managing director Carl Rosendahl, and former head of f/x and animation house PDI, joins Mondo's board of directors. Venturepark will provide strategic consulting for Mondo's move into Europe.

The round will help San Francisco-based Mondo produce additional content to syndicate to various Web sites, as well as expand its efforts in Europe. Mondo's slate of a dozen shows, including the animated "The God and Devil Show" and "Thugs on Film," appear on Entertaindom.com, Excite@Home, iWon, Lycos, Real Networks, Shockwave.com and Netscape.
