Antena 3's highest rating show 1999/2000 with a 27.9% share, turning on typical high school dramas. Sold in format form to Italy and Portugal. A solid young adult offering.

Immortalized by Spaniards and Charlton Heston, Spain's medieval Moor masher makes good in an animated movie from mini-major Filmax. In pre-production, Filmax's biggest new animation project.

Late night being a contradiction in terms for Spaniards, Gestmusic and Tele 5 has scored boffo (28.7% share) with this marathon trash glam yakker, a vibrant tongue-in-cheek mush of sub-Springer scuffles and silly debates. Original, if squirm-inducing. Or maybe the other way around. Airing in format form on Portugal's SIC in spring.
"Gotica"Producer: Produce Plus, Morena Films, drama series.
Spain's Morena successfully co-produced syndicated swashbuckler "Queen of Swords" with Canada's Fireworks Ent. Now it's back, teamed with Canal Plus Espana, developing a kind of Gothic "X files." Produce Plus is looking for international partners on "Gotica," featuring a nineteenth century journalist who cracks unresolved mysteries around Europe.
"Miniman"Producer: Cromosoma, animated series.
With EBU co-production "Tom" just being unveiled to buyers at NATPE, "Miniman," a 12-minute, 26-episode series about a kiddie action hero is Cromosoma's strongest sales prospect. Latin American cable/satellite rights sold to Nickelodeon. Other major territory sales in negotiation. Production wraps in September.
"Policias, en el corazon de la calle" (Cops)Producer: Globo Media, drama series. The nearest Spanish cop series get to the gritty realism of "Hill Street Blues," with competent action scenes to boot. Aired from January 2000 on Antena 3 to a strong average 20.9% share, skewing towards young females.
"Sahel, la frontera herida"Producer: Media Park, New Atlantis, docu series.
The first high-profile docu from channel production company Media Park. The hour series explores the Sahel trade trail which crosses Africa from east to west. Media Park aim for pre-sales at NATPE and will present finished episodes at Mip-TV.
"Toonimals"Producer: BRB Intl., Tele 5, animation series.
Mice don't like cheese. One knowledge nugget from "Toonimals," a half hour, Nickelodeon-style edutainment animal series combining slapstick and odd trivia.
Will premiere on Tele 5, September. Sold to Italy (Mediaset), Mexico (Televisa) and Portugal (TVI).
