Talkers, mags lead syndies
'Montel' nabbed biggest boast
All of the top nine rated talkers improved week-to-week, for the week ending Dec. 24, according to Nielsen.
"Montel Williams" earned the biggest boost, moving up 29% from the prior week to place sixth in the category with a 3.1 rating.
"Oprah" led the talkers by moving up 7% to 5.9, and "Live! With Regis" moved up 2% to a season high of 4.3 to place second.
"Jerry Springer" also earned a season high, moving up 3% to 3.9, tying "Maury," which was up 8%, also high.
"Rosie O'Donnell" followed, also with a season high, up 6% to 3.4. Next came "Montel," followed by "Ricki Lake," up 4% to 2.7.
"Jenny Jones" rounded out the top 9, moving up 4% to season high 2.4.
"Martha Stewart" dipped 6% to 1.7, and "Queen Latifah" was flat at 1.3.
Among the mags, "Entertainment Tonight" and "Access Hollywood" both showed week-to-week improvement in a frame in both skeins featured news about Madonna's wedding and Robert Downey Jr.'s trouble with the law.
"ET" was up 2% to 6.3 to lead the category, and "Access" was up 8% to a season high of 2.7 to place fourth.
"Extra" was second, up 3% to 3.3, and "Inside Edition" was down 3% to 3.1. "National Enquirer's Uncovered" dipped 8% to 1.1.
