Cata departs Spain's Planeta

World brief

Aurora Cata has ankled as general manager of Planeta 2010, the ambitious film and TV arm of Spain's Planeta Group.

Cata's resignation seemed to be in the cards after Ramon Mas' appointment in July as Planeta's director of new business, a brief that includes Planeta 2010 and multimedia company Planeta Actimedia. Insiders say his appointment severely undercut Cata's power, spawning increased tension between the execs.

TV exec Emanuela Spinetta was recently named director of Planeta 2010's film and TV production division.
