Col TriStar gets Oz Nat'l 2000 award

World brief

Columbia TriStar Films Australia received the Grand Award from Australia's National 2000 Multicultural Awards for its "Silk Screen" films.

Premier Bob Carr made the presentation to national marketing manager Suzanne Stretton-Brown at a gala ceremony in Sydney on Nov. 27, hosted by the Ethnic Affairs Commission.

The "Silk Screen" program was created to foster Columbia TriStar's growing collection of Asian titles, including Ang Lee's "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon," Zhang Yimou's "The Road Home" and the Japanese film "Kikujiro."

The awards recognize the efforts of orgs who promote cultural diversity in Australia.
