Beatlemania gets a revisit

'Hard Day's' preem brings Fab Four back to the big screen again

Beatles fans were twisting and shouting at the BevHills Cecchi Gori Fine Arts Theatre premiere of the re-re-release of "A Hard Day's Night" Thursday. The full house reveled in the Beatles antics and recognized why the Fab Four has lasted so long.

The recent passing of producer Walter Shenson, who produced both Beatles films, was not lost on the audience. Longtime publicist Jerry Pam, who publicized both "A Hard Day's Night" and "Help" said, "I will be forever grateful to Walter for allowing me to be a part of history and to have been selected to publicize a group that will last forever."

The evening was co-sponsored by Miramax, the distributor and Virgin Atlantic Airways, which sponsored the post film party at the exclusive L.A. watering hole the Skybar that featured lots of Beatles music.

Enthusiasm for the Beatles ran high as Mark Gill, president of Miramax Los Angeles said, "In a year that Hollywood observers say is short on good movies, it's a real pleasure to bring back one film that everyone can agree is great -- in its fully restored glory."

Those in attendance included actors Peter Stormare, Dan Aykroyd, Jeremy Piven; director Avi Neshor and Dimension execs Michael Helfant and Andrew Gumpert.
