Fox taps Kuo biz sr. veep

Exec to work with mergers, acquisitions

Steven Kuo has been upped to senior veep of biz development for Fox TV.

In his expanded role, Kuo will work with all of Fox's television businesses on mergers and acquisitions, strategic planning and the development of new business opportunities.

He will also oversee new biz operations for Fox's interactive television initiatives and the soon-to-be-launched enhanced programming services.

"Steven has played an important role in effecting transactions and developing new business opportunities that have furthered the strategic objectives of Fox Television," said Jeff Shell, prexy and CEO of Fox Cable Networks Group. "As part of his responsibilities, he will spearhead our interactive television initiatives on the business and operational side, working alongside Eric Shanks (VP of enhanced programming), who will continue to expand our ongoing content applications."

Kuo, who has been veep of Fox Television since 1999, has worked on several News Corp., Fox Entertainment Group and Fox Television transactions in recent years, including investments in OpenTV and ReplayTV; the acquisition of the 10 television stations owned by Chris-Craft Industries and its subsidiaries; the acquisition of Intl. Family Entertainment and subsequent conversion into Fox Family Worldwide; and the acquisition of the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Kuo joined Fox Television as manager of biz development.
