Buena Vista buoys Reed

Exec to top productions from London-based comedy label

Jason Reed has been promoted to senior vice president of the Buena Vista Motion Picture Group, making him third in the chain of command on the motion picture side of the studio -- under president Nina Jacobson and executive veep Mark Vahradian.

"Jason has made a huge contribution to our team," said Jacobson. "He couldn't be more deserving of this promotion."

A 5-1/2-year vet of the studio, Reed has spent the past year as the studio's creative rep on the Michael Bay/Jerry Bruckheimer epic "Pearl Harbor," which is in post-production and due for release in May. He also oversaw pics "Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo" and "A Civil Action."

The exec is working closely on Spyglass Entertainment's "Reign of Fire" and is helping to put together "Black Sheep" and "Take Down," both at Disney-based Bruckheimer Films. He is also supervising production of "Dogcatcher," to be directed by Wally Wolodarsky.

Reed's responsibilities extend to supervising productions that come out of the studio's Buena Vista Intl.'s London-based comedy label, which is making the Minnie Driver starrer "High Heels and Lowlifes" with director Mel Smith at the helm.

Prior to his promotion, Reed had been veep of production. He previously wore director of development and creative executive stripes.
