Three ink for gURL fest
Online magazine to host tributes to Marion, Savoca, Vachon
Peirce will present "A Tribute to Frances Marion" on the final day of the festival, which will include a screening of Marion's 1921 film "The Love Light," starring Mary Pickford.
Friday night's tribute to Savoca will include a Q&A with the director between screenings of "True Love," "Household Saints" and "Dogfight," starring Lily Taylor and River Phoenix.
Saturday night's tribute to Vachon will include showings of three pics she produced through Killer Films: Peirce's "Boys Don't Cry," Todd Haynes' "Safe" and Todd Solonz's "Happiness."
The six-day festival will also feature five New York premieres, including Katherine Griffin's "The Innocents," screenings of student films, roundtable discussions with women filmmakers, and the presentation of the inaugural gURL.com Media Maker Award to a New York-area film student.
Launched in 1996, gURL.com is an alternative online magazine aimed at young women and teenage girls.
