'Toy Story 2,' 'Fantasia' top Annie winners

Disney-Pixar tale taps seven awards

The Disney-Pixar co-production "Toy Story 2" drew seven awards, including best animated theatrical feature, at the 28th Annual Annie Awards, presented Saturday by ASIFA-Hollywood, the Intl. Animated Film Society, at the Alex Theater in Glendale.

Pic also won recognition for director John Lasseter; scribes Lasseter, Pete Docter, Ash Brannon, Andrew Stanton, Rita Hsiao, Doug Chamberlin and Chris Webb; music (Randy Newman); storyboarding (Dan Jeup and Joe Ranft); male voice (Tim Allen); and female voice (Joan Cusack).

The Mouse House's animated feature "Fantasia 2000" also took home multiple awards. Fox animated series "The Simpsons" scribbled for two awards: outstanding primetime or latenight animated program and music for an animated television program.

Animated television feature "Olive, the Other Reindeer" also lined up awards for individual achievement in writing (Steve Young), and for voice acting by a male performer (Dan Castellaneta).

Kudos were also given for oustanding animated homevideo (Disney's "An Extremely Goofy Movie"), daytime animated television program ("Mickey Mouseworks"), animated electronic media (Renegade Animation's "Elmo Aardvark, Outer Space Detective"), animated short subject (Pixar's "For the Birds"), animated special project (Cartoon Network's "The Scooby Doo Project") and animated television commercial (Will Vinton Studios' "Genie-Mirinda").
