WNBC prescribes Doctor for news post

Replaces Madison, who leaves Gotham for KNBC in LA

Dianne Doctor has been promoted to news director of Gotham's NBC-owned station WNBC.

Doctor, who was recently upped to assistant news director for the station, replaces Paula Madison, who last week was named president and general manager of NBC-owned Los Angeles station KNBC.

"Dianne has been an integral part of NewsChannel 4 since joining the NBC4 family in 1991," said WNBC prexy and general manager Dennis Swanson, to whom Doctor will report. "Dianne will continue our station's commitment to fairness, accuracy and balance, insuring our news department's No. 1 standing in the market."

Joel Goldberg, executive producer for WNBC since 1993, has been promoted to assistant news director.
