Baumbach bonds with Col TriStar TV

Drama at Fox, half-hour laffer at NBC part of deal

Scribe-helmer Noah Baumbach ("Kicking and Screaming") has inked an overall series development deal with Columbia TriStar Television.

Pact is already bearing fruit, with CTTV setting up a Baumbach-created drama at Fox and a half-hour laffer from the scribe at NBC.

"Noah has one of the most original and sophisticated voices of any writer I know," said Sarah Timberman, exec VP of series development at the studio.

Fox has made a script commitment to the Baumbach drama, which will explore a divorced men's therapy group and the men's various post-marriage relationships.

The Peacock project, to be produced with James Burrows' Three Sisters Entertainment, is a comedy about how a man's life is changed through his relationship with a young nephew. NBC has ordered a script of the potential series.

Baumbach sold three comedy pilot scripts last development season. He's writing a feature pic dubbed "Tiny Boyfriend."

Baumbach first gained notice for writing and directing the 1995 pic "Kicking and Screaming," starring Josh Hamilton and Chris Eigeman. That was followed by 1997's "Mr. Jealousy" and "Highball." Scribe's also been a contributor to the New Yorker.

Deal was brokered by Chris Silbermann of BKWU, Brad Gross of Sanford Gross and attorney Fred Toczek.
