Zlotoff slotted to top IFP writer lab

Workshop culls 10 finalists from 150-plus screenwriters

Lee David Zlotoff, the writer and director of "Spitfire Grill," will be the lab instructor for Independent Feature Project/West's Fall Screenwriter's Lab.

Workshop, which begins its seven-week run Monday, aims to help 10 screenwriters improve their craft through seminars and one-on-one meetings with industry advisers.

IFP/West culled the lab's 10 finalists from a pool of more than 150 applicants. Participants were chosen based on the quality of their submitted scripts and applications. This fall's finalists are Todd Coleman, Karol Silverstein, Thomas Rosenberger, Samuel Park, Rodney Vance, Bobette Buster, Andrea Kampic, David Aguilar, Kelly Atkins, and Tracy Marshak-Nash.

Zlotoff's "Spitfire Grill" won the Audience Award for best dramatic feature at the 1996 Sundance Film Festival. He created the television show "MacGyver" and is working on three feature films.
