In a Rush to Compete
eXpediteMedia joins online prod'n fray
Companies such as Creative Planet, iFilmpro and WebEI have recently been ramping up to provide production resources on the Web, and now eXpediteMedia (www.expeditemedia.com) is making a bid to join the growing B-to-B business.
The site, which bows in November, offers an online exchange for the production process, from development through post production for film, television, music, multimedia and advertising.
"We're courting all media and film professionals who are interested in procuring goods and services," says Brad Goodman, founder and president of eXpediteMedia. "That can range from productions managers, post-production supervisors, independent producers, down to the mom-and-pop companies."
A 15-year film industry veteran and former post production supervisor for DreamWorks SKG, Goodman has also worked with Universal, Warner Bros. and New Line. Among his post production credits are "Deep Impact," "Small Soldiers" and "Twister."
By connecting customers and vendors online, Goodman hopes eXpediteMedia will make the purchasing process faster, easier and more cost effective. The site also tracks spending and production status, helping to keep budgets on target and production on time.
"If you need a grip or lighting package you'll be able to send out your parameters to all the vendors and then attach any spec sheets that the vendor might need to give you a bid," Goodman explains.
The site plans to make money on the back end by charging the vendor a transaction fee and earning a small commission on the size of the invoice.
Currently the company has been developing their network of clients and vendors primarily in Los Angeles, New York and Toronto.
