Turturro inks development deal with Eye

Will develop and star in one-hour drama

Former "NYPD Blue" detective Nick Turturro, who turned in his badge last season, has sealed a new development deal with the CBS precinct.

Under the one-year pact, pegged in the mid-six figures, Turturro will develop and star in a one-hour drama for the 2001-02 season.

Turturro most recently starred in the WB pilot "Nick," where he played an Archie Bunker-like character. Thesp is coming off a holding deal at the net.

Turturro's other TV credits include guest stints on "Law & Order" and "The Drew Carey Show." The actor has appeared in the features "Malcolm X," "Federal Hill," "Jungle Fever," "Mo' Better Blues" and "Shadow Conspiracy."

Turturro is repped by UTA.
