Pepperkids to concentrate on animation productions

BERLIN -- German sales company Peppermint has unveiled pepperkids, a joint venture production and development company with the Benelux's Rubinstein Media.

Concentrating on animation productions, pepperkids, which launches at next week's Mipcom TV trade show, has a raft of projects in development.

Among them are "Flub," an animation series about a fish that turns into a land creature; "Molly," based on the Dutch magazine column "Molly & Friends"; and "Toby & the Little Green Dragon."

Peppermint's existing library of about 10,000 hours of children's programming will form the foundation of the pepperkids company.

"There is definitely room in the market for great projects," Peppermint chief and pepperkids co-chief Michael Knobloch said. "Our goal is to do it better."

Rubinstein Media owner Maurits Rubinstein will co-head the company and operate as its creative engine.
