Otero to stay ICAA topper

Quiros appointment failed to happen

SAN SEBASTIAN -- Vet industry exec Jose Maria Otero will remain general manager of Spain's ICAA Spanish Film Institute at least long enough to usher in new Spanish film legislation later this year.

Spain's new minister of culture, Pilar del Castillo, had been expected to name Spanish academic and author Jose Luis Gonzalez Quiros to Otero's post, whose occupant oversees the day-to-day implementation of governmental film policy.

But the appointment has never materialized. The industry will welcome Otero's extended mandate. Otero has been the ICAA topper since 1996.
