CTSI's "Hollow Man" was anything but invisible in France and Belgium, where it stormed into the top spot with $1.9 million from 557 labs and $383,000 from 69 experiments, respectively. Pic also grabbed $187,000 to take the top spot in Switzerland.
In Mexico, "What Lies Beneath," which dropped 20% in France, turned in a thrilling estimated $1.6 million from 419 screens for Fox's third largest bow there ever.
Fox's "Me Myself & Irene" laughed its way to No. 1 in the U.K., with an estimated $1.1 million from 356 wards, while WB's "Space Cowboys" zapped into fifth, with an estimated $467,600 from 234 pads.
New Line's "Final Destination" grabbed top spot in Germany with an estimated $1.4 million from 512 airports, amid soft trading there. Landing in third slot behind stayer "Road Trips" was UIP's "Nutty Professor 2: The Klumps" with an estimated $547,800 from 534.
In soft trading in Austria, "Final Destination" landed in second slot, behind stayer "Coyote Ugly," with an estimated $89,220 from 60 lounges, while "Klumps" debuted in fourth place, behind holdover "Road Trip," with an estimated $49,560 from 66 cinemas.
"Klumps" was also Spain's best opener in second spot, behind stayer "Hollow Man," with an estimated $272,770 from 213 prints. It bowed in fifth in Argentina, with an estimated $115,230 from 52.
