NEW YORK -- How hot is HBO's "Sex and the City"? Try this: The William Morris Agency is getting the word out that Cane, the magnetic New York deejay who hosts "The Rock Show" on VH1 and presides over the 6-to-10-p.m. block on WXRK-FM (known locally as K-Rock), is guest-starring on "Hot Child in the City," the Sept. 24 episode of "Sex."

Cane, 30, will use his real name, Doug Petersen, in his billing for the episode.

Although he's never taken any formal acting lessons, Petersen's goal is to become a leading man in movies and TV.

William Morris is so high on his work in the "Hot Child" episode that it's planning to push to get him more acting jobs on the strength of that performance.

Cane is fighting heavy odds: It's rare for a deejay, even one as charismatic as Cane, to break through to movie and TV stardom as an actor. Cane's agent at Morris is Jonathan Rosen.

The Middle-East International Film Festival kicks off this fall.
