NBC picks up Storey to handle longform

Exec to handle pix, minis development and prod'n

Here's the story of a new movies and miniseries chief: Erik Storey has been named to the top longform job at NBC Studios.

Storey, who served as vice president of development at Von Zerneck-Sertner Films since August 1997, will handle development and production of movies and minis at NBC Studios.

In his new job, Storey will report to NBC Studios senior veepee Shelley McCrory.

NBC Studios prexy Ted Harbert made the announcement Friday, saying, "Erik is one of the most talented and experienced executives working in the longform business today, and we are thrilled to have him leading our expanding movie and miniseries efforts."

Storey will work closely with new NBC longform chief Steve White to develop projects for the Peacock.

At Von Zerneck-Sertner, Storey oversaw development and production of network and cable movies and minis, supervised development staff and inhouse producers, and oversaw business affairs.

Storey's resume also includes stints at Diana Kerew Prods., where he handled development and production; and Cosgrove/Meurer Prods., where he served as director of development.

Longforms developed under Storey's watch include "Mr. Rock & Roll: The Alan Freed Story," "Ed McBain's 87th Precinct: Heat," "Too Rich: The Secret Life of Doris Duke," "Silent Predators," and other films for ABC, NBC, CBS, Lifetime and TBS Superstation.
