Major kudos for minis, movies

Collage of notable television projects

WORTH TAKING NOTICE: HBO's "The Corner," starring Khandi Alexander, below, was nominated in the best miniseries category and was widely praised for its realistic, sobering look at a drug-ravaged Baltimore neighborhood. Emmy nom Beau Bridges and his son Jordan, at right, brought to life the story of the famed circus legend in "P.T. Barnum," which also nabbed a miniseries nomination. Both Jack Lemmon and Hank Azaria, bottom
right, are nominated for their work in the made-for-TV adaptation of Mitch Albom's bestselling book "Tuesdays With Morrie." And on a more biblical note, CBS' "Jesus," with Jeremy Sisto, Jacqueline Bisset and Debra Messing (a comic actress nominee for "Will & Grace"), was recognized by Emmy voters in the miniseries category.

The Middle-East International Film Festival kicks off this fall.
